RECOMMENDATION #6

Actively identify minority employees for inclusion in the Leadership Development Series, and encourage their professional growth through training, mentoring, and networking.

  • The Human Resources Training Coordinator will work closely with Department Directors in selecting a diverse group of employees who have an interest in growing their careers with Lewisville.
  • This aligns with Recommendation #4 in preparing employees for promotion. Training participation must be diverse in order to have a diverse applicant pool prepared and ready for promotions and career advancement.

Completed Actions

  • The Training and Equity Manager worked with a local consultant to review the Leadership Development Series to identify potential changes to the program and the selection process as a way to improve diversity and inclusion.The local consultant completed the analysis of the Leadership Development Series.
  • The Leadership Development Series will now be the Lewisville Leadership Academy. Program 1 - will be open to all employees who have interest in developing general leadership skills and Program 2 - will be for current supervisors/managers to enhance their current leadership and management skills.
