The mission of the Office of Emergency Management is to coordinate efforts to build, sustain and improve Lewisville’s capacity to prevent, mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster.

By State Law the Mayor is the Director of Emergency Management and must appoint an Emergency Management Coordinator to carry out preparedness and response coordination. The Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) leads the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and reports to the Assistant City Manager of Community Services. The EMC is supported by a full-time Emergency Management Specialist. The OEM is responsible for maintenance of the Outdoor Warning System, City-Wide Drills and Exercises, four grants per fiscal year, and keeping over 20 emergency plans updated and within state-compliance.
