Volunteering with Lewisville Animal Services can be a rewarding way to help the homeless pets of our community and to learn more about the shelter and its operations. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us.

Dog and volunteer

Volunteers with Lewisville Animal Services help with the daily operations at the facility and raise awareness of animals needing a home.

A few important things to note:

  • All volunteers must be over the age of 18 and agree to a background check.
  • We do not sign off on court ordered community service hours.
  • We will sign off on National Honor Society or school related course hours.
  • Lewisville Animal Services is an open admission facility.
  • We do not allow walk-in volunteering. Those wanting to volunteer must go through the application process.

Common activities for volunteers include:

  • Dog walking
  • Cleaning/sanitizing kennels
  • Behavior enrichment projects
  • Socializing dogs and cats
  • Laundry, dishes, and other duties

Volunteering with Lewisville Animal Services can be a slow process and can sometimes take a month (or more) to begin. Due to requirements for a background check and orientation dates, we ask all individuals to please be patient with the process.

Volunteer orientation date:

  • Saturday, June 29, 9-11 a.m.
