2023 Resident Satisfaction Survey

The 2023 Resident Satisfaction Survey was conducted Monday, Aug. 28 – Monday, Sept. 11, in both English and Spanish.

Results found that 88 percent of residents are satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of life in Lewisville.

More than 900 responses were received in this survey, which was made up of 26 questions covering a wide variety of topics.
Some of the notable findings include:

  • 86 percent feel Lewisville is a place that welcomes diversity
  • 80 percent feel Lewisville is a good place to raise their children

Eight out of 10 respondents are likely to encourage a friend or relative to consider moving to Lewisville.
Nearly half of all respondents feel their quality of life in Lewisville has improved and they are pleased with the level of services received for property taxes paid.

Respondents also were asked about their satisfaction with 13 City services. All 13 services graded out positively, with 11 of those 13 services showing improvements from the 2019 public survey. Respondents were most pleased with library services, fire services, and trash collection.
Some of the notable findings include:

  • 97 percent are happy with Fire services
  • 89 percent are happy with Library services
  • 85 percent are happy with Police services
  • 76 percent are happy with special events, such as Western Days, ColorPalooza, and Sounds of Lewisville
  • 73 percent are pleased with trash collection and curbside recycling

Results from the full survey will be used by City leaders to pinpoint areas of success and improvement.
There is no finish line when it comes to customer service. While overall results are positive, there always is room for improvement.

2021 Resident Satisfaction Survey

The 2021 Resident Satisfaction Survey was conducted October 15-29 of this year as a way to measure public perception of city services and quality of life in Lewisville. A full analysis can be found below. This executive summary focuses on overall public perceptions and key recommendations drawn from survey results.

The survey was conducted exclusively online, which does have some bearing on the results as described in the full analysis. Generally, online surveys tend to produce lower overall satisfaction ratings than are generated by random-sample telephone surveys, and online survey results tend to have a higher percentage of “high intensity” responses at both ends of the scale.

More than 800 responses were received for the 2021 Resident Satisfaction Survey, which is below the average response received for the annual survey but is more responses than were received in 2019. The lack of random sampling makes the results somewhat anecdotal in nature, but the large response rate does add to the reliability of the results.

This was an opt-in survey, and respondents did not reflect the overall Lewisville population. More than 66 percent of respondents said they had lived in Lewisville 10 years or longer, and more than 90 percent described themselves as homeowners. This lends added value to “change over time” assessments, but also means younger and newer residents (particularly apartment dwellers) are under-represented in the survey results.

2019 Resident Satisfaction Phone Survey

More than 400 responses were received in this survey, which was made up of 83 questions covering a wide variety of topics. The sample was divided into four subsectors for geographic comparisons and statistical validity. Some of the notable findings include:
  • 90 percent of respondents said they would encourage friends or relatives to move to Lewisville
  • 84 percent of respondents are happy with Fire services
  • 84 percent of respondents are happy with Police services
  • 85 percent of respondents are happy with trash collection, curbside recycling, and water and sewer service
  • 87 percent of respondents are pleased with the overall appearance of the city
  • 87 percent of respondents feel Lewisville is a place that welcomes diversity
  • 87 percent of respondents feel Lewisville is an affordable place to live

Results from the full survey will be used by City leaders to pinpoint areas of success and improvement. They also serve as building blocks as the City begins an aggressive review of the Lewisville 2025 vision plan objectives to gauge progress and prioritize remaining work to be done. While overall results are positive, there always is room for improvement.
